You've heard the saying, "Don't try this at home!" Well, we want to encourage you to try these ideas at home, at school, in your neighborhood, and other places! As you do, you'll be on your way to thinking like a missionary and sharing God's love - and you'll have fun doing it!
Pray
Begin praying for your friends (and even those who are mean or bully you) who don't know Jesus or go to church. Ask God to help you show love and kindness to them the way Jesus would. Ask God to provide you an opportunity to share Christ with them.
Be Ready to Share
Be ready to tell them why you go to church and why you act the way you do. Sometimes it's hard to put your feelins into words so have a talk with mom and dad and ask them how you could respond.
Show Kindness
Do something nice for a neighbor. Walk a pet, make a meal when their sick, rake their leaves, give them a special gift, or write a note to your Sunday School Teacher. Show kindness to them in a special way by helping them. Help a friend learn a new game, sport, or activity. Show them you care by helping them learn somthing new.
Neighborhood Invitations
Decorate a card and write fun, encouraging message on them (God Loves You, Jesus Rocks, Smile-Jesus Loves You, etc.) Be sure to include the following:
Franklin Memorial Christian Church
1720 Graham Rd.
Franklin, IN 46131
Service Times: 9 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.
Ask an adult to go around to houses in your neighborhood and leave and door hangers invitation on their door.
Free Refreshment Stand
Set up a free refreshment stand in your neighborhood. When someone asks you why it is free, tell tem you are doing this to show the love of Jesus. It's always a good idea to have mom or dad there with you for safety reasons. You can offer lemonade and chocolate chip cookies.
Gift Wrapping Paper with a Mission
For birthdays or for Christmas, make your own wrapping paper. You will need tissue paper, brown grocery bags, sponge shapes, tempera paint, your thumb, and stamp pads. It is easy to make gift wrap. Practice making designs (on newspaper) before you start to decorate the tissue (or brown bag paper). Spread the tissue out on a flat surface. Dip the sponge shapes into the tempera paint and then onto the tissue paper. Let the paper dry. Add your thumbprint shapes at various places on the paper. Let the paper dry before wrapping your gifts. Try to make a heart, a family portrait, a cross, a Christmas wreath, or a snow man with your thumbprints. Write your favorite Bible verses on your gift paper as a final touch.
